How I Got Here
I’ve worked in museums, nonprofits, and cultural organizations, but I’ve always found myself coming back to story—particularly stories about love, identity, family, and finding where you belong. I hold an undergraduate degree in English from Spelman College, a masters degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Washington Bothell, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Screenwriting) from Goddard College. I’ve taught storytelling to students, emerging writers, and fellow dreamers all over the world. My screenplays have won at the Austin Film Festival, and have been recognized as Finalists for the Humanitas David and Lynn Angell College Comedy Award as well as the Screencraft Family Screenplay Competition. I’ve built stories from the ground up, workshopped them to death, and finally watched them come to life on screen. I know how vulnerable and overwhelming it can feel and I also know how beautiful it is when it clicks.
Who I am
Hi! I’m Helen. I’m a romance story coach, writing educator, and award-winning screenwriter. But at my core, I’m someone who believes that love stories matter, and that they deserve depth, clarity, and care. If you’re writing a rom-com, a slow-burn drama, or something genre-bending and tender, I want to help you shape it into a story that feels good, feels smart, and feels real.
Who I Work With
I work with storytellers of all kinds: screenwriters, novelists, playwrights, and anyone building romance into their story. Whether you're just starting out or deep in a draft, I’m here to help you build something honest, emotionally grounded, and full of the kind of tension that keeps readers and viewers hooked.
